Day One
Starting again.
I’ve been meaning to start a small website like this again for a long time.
I’ve had a few over the years. I was part of the Geocities gang back in the mid-to-late 90s. But as you know, the internet went and changed and not really for the better.
We lost our small, quiet spaces where we could just be ourselves. Somewhere to write, collect ideas, leave messages for each other. Spaces that weren’t controlled by an algorithm and were definitely a lot less noisy.
Most of the internet today lives inside platforms. They’re great for distribution, but not so great for thinking, and certainly not for thinking your own thoughts without interference.
This site is my small attempt to reclaim a little piece of the web. A place to write about creativity, ideas, books, music, and things I’m learning. Just like I used to.
Some posts might be polished. Others might just be rough thoughts captured in the moment.
I’m also hoping to discover some like-minded Bear Blog folks and their own corners of the internet along the way.
Either way, this feels like a good place to start.
